Inspiration

Blade Runner has been around forever and it still looks great.  I love the mix of retro and futuristic in the sets and costumes.  I have a special place in my heart when it comes to the replicant Rachael played by Sean Young.  So beautiful.  Also Harrison Ford.  LOVE YOU.

Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation

 

After seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981, three 12 yr. old friends began filming an adaptation shot for shot in their backyards in Mississippi.  They filmed it bit by bit over the next seven years.  Keep in mind- no VCR's.  They did the entire thing on memory...with the official Raiders comic book, of course! Ha.  The entire film was screened at the Hollywood Theater in Portland awhile ago and it is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.  This is the the first 10 minutes to give you a taste.  You can also check out a Q & A with two of the guys here.  It's pretty amazing what they managed to pull off.

'Tis the season for holiday parties which to me means fun dresses and glowy skin.  I absolutely love the illuminated look because it doesn't matter what skin tone you are, it looks good across the board.  My fondness for Nars multiples has been long standing but watch out...there's a new sheriff in town!  Laura Mercier's limited edition Rose Rendezvous face illuminator is gorgeous used wet or dry and soft enough to be used during the day without looking like a disco refugee.

Rain, rain go away

It's pouring down rain as usual.  Portland's weather seems to be in a perpetual tantrum October to June so sweaters and layers are a girls best friend.
